Characteristics and applications Cooling towers of the SG series are counter flow induced draught coolers, with axial fans, modular type and standard manufacturing in fibreglass-reinforced polyester (FRP). These towers are compact monoblock machines of great safe operation, fulfilling with health and safety regulations. They are able to cool water flows till 300 m³/h per cell. The maintenance is minimum due to material quality and simplicity of mechanical equipment (there is not transmission by belts). Cooling towers of this series are used in all kind of industries: food processing plants, chemical, metallurgical, cogeneration, etc.; and for processes and cooling equipments, such as compressors, refrigeration chambers, condensers, etc. > Next section General description Cooling towers of this series consist of: - Casing and water collection basin - Water distribution system - Filling - Drift eliminator - Mechanical air blowing equipment Casing and water collection basin The towers of this series have two or more sections manufactured in FRP. Its lower section includes the water collection basin and the passages to allow the air coming into. The basin is equipped with connections for: - Cold water outlet - Overflow - Drainage - Make up with floating valve - Biocide dosage - Heater to prevent freezing (optional) The intermediate area of the tower is fitted with the hot water inlet for the distribution system. Water distribution system Hot water distribution is made of FRP channels with gravity nozzles, made of plastic material designed with a wide passage, thus avoiding any possibility of clogging and easy maintenance, including also the impingement plates. Filling These cooling towers can incorporate different filling types according to water quality features. LAMINAR or FILM: It is composed by plastic panels, 24 mm minimum flute and high efficiency. SEMI-SPLASH: It is composed by hollow cylinders vertically installed, which are an ideal solution for those cases in which the content of suspended solids is high. SPLASH: This consist of L-shaped plastic splash bars placed horizontally and supported by vertical stainless steel meshes, allowing large passages for water and air, thus avoiding the possibility of clogging. It is recommended for those cases in which the content of suspended solids is extremely high. Drift eliminator Highly efficient, it reduces considerably the carryover of droplets. Mechanical equipment High efficiency axial fans, statically and dynamically balanced, installed in the upper part, provide the airflow. The fans, one for each cell, are directly coupled to self-ventilated and totally enclosed electric motors. > Next section Options The upper section is handled by means of the mechanical equipment support.
