"CTFP SPLASH" Series

CTFP SPLASH series cooling towers are modular counter flow forced draught coolers, with axial fans, and standard manufacturing in fibreglass-reinforced polyester (FRP).

Models of this series are supplied in two or more sections, with internal parts totally assembled, according to cooling requirements.

These towers are compact monoblock machines of great safe operation, fulfilling with health and safety regulations. They being able to cool water flows till 250 m³/h per cell.

Their main characteristic is that, due to the “SPLASH” filling system, it is almost impossible for them to become clogged, thus considerably reducing their maintenance requirements.

Therefore, they are the optimum solution for those installations in which the water is very dirty, containing a large amount of suspended solids.

Cooling towers of this series consist of:

- Casing and water collection basin
- Water distribution system
- Filling
- Drift eliminator
- Mechanical air blowing equipment


Casing and water collection basin

The casing is manufactured in FRP and its lower section includes the water collection basin and access for inspection and maintenance operations.

It can be supplied with a bedframe made of hot dip galvanized steel profiles.

The basin is equipped with connections for:
- Cold water outlet
- Overflow (can be transformed into a second cold water outlet in case of gravity discharge)
- Drainage
- Make up with floating valve
- Biocide dosage
- Heater to prevent freezing (this element is optional)

The upper section is fitted with the hot water inlet for the distribution system.

Water distribution system

This system is composed of FRP open channels with gravity nozzles placed at the bottom and with plastic splash plates.

Filling

This consists of L-shaped plastic splash bars placed horizontally and supported by vertical stainless steel meshes, allowing large passages for water and air, thus avoiding the possibility of clogging.


Drift eliminator

Highly efficient, it reduces considerably the carryover of droplets.

Mechanical air blowing equipment

High efficiency axial fans, statically and dynamically balanced, provide the airflow.

The fans, one for each cell, are directly coupled to self-ventilated and totally enclosed electric motors, which are fitted on hot dip galvanized steel supports.

A protection mesh is placed in front of the fan, to avoid risks.

Additionally, these towers can incorporate: fan control thermostat, speed variators, low noise level fans, maintenance platforms and ladder, upper hollow section for a better maintenance of distribution system, etc.

In addition to the above, every specific problem can also be studied to find the best solution in each case.

All sections that form these towers have four eyebolts each. In the towers with the bedframe, the lower section is equipped with wire ropes, which are fixed to tower bedframe and a timber frame on top. Both wire ropes and timber frames should be removed after installation.

When using cranes to move towers, the above-mentioned eyebolts and wire ropes should be used.

As its maximum width is 2.30 m transport is possible in conventional type trucks without any difficulty.

These towers are supplied in two or more sections which first need to be fitted onto each other, then bolted together. Final installation requires only the anchoring of the tower and connection of motor and piping.

For indoor installation of cooling towers, an air-outlet duct will be fitted, connected to the exterior. In this case, consult SPX Cooling Technologies Ibérica, S.L..
