"CTF" Series

Cooling towers of the CTF series are counter flow forced draught coolers, with axial fans, modular type and standard manufacturing in fibreglass-reinforced polyester (FRP). These towers are compact monoblock machines of great safe operation, fulfilling with health and safety regulations.

This series includes two types:
- CTFA: They have one section, and are able to cool water flows from 1 m³/h till 113 m³/h per cell.
- CTFP: They have two sections, being able to cool water flows till 277 m³/h per cell.

The maintenance is minimum due to material quality and simplicity of mechanical equipment (there is not transmission by belts) and easy access to different components.

Reduced dimensions and weights, enabling its installation almost anywhere, such as roofs and terraces.

Cooling towers of this series are used in all kind of industries: food processing plants, chemical, metallurgical, cogeneration, etc.; and for processes and cooling equipments, such as compressors, refrigeration chambers, condensers, etc.

Cooling towers of this series consist of:

- Casing and water collection basin
- Water distribution system
- Filling
- Drift eliminator
- Mechanical air blowing equipment


Casing and water collection basin

The casing and water collection basin form a single section for the cooling towers of the CTFA type.

In the case of the CTFP type, the lower section includes the water collection basin, which can be supplied with a bedframe of hot dip galvanized steel profiles.

In both types an access for inspection and maintenance operations is available.

The basin is equipped with connections for:
- Cold water outlet.
- Overflow (can be transformed into a second cold water outlet in case of gravity discharge).
- Drainage.
- Make up with floating valve.
- Biocide dosage.
- Heater to prevent freezing (this element is optional).

The upper section is fitted with the hot water inlet for the distribution system.

Water distribution system

Consist of hot dip galvanized steel pipework in which low pressure static plastic nozzles, designed with a wide passage, thus avoiding any possibility of clogging and easy maintenance, are fitted.

Filling

The filling is highly efficient film or laminar type, with a high contact surface area by volume and 24 mm minimum flute.


Drift eliminator

Highly efficient, it reduces considerably the carryover of droplets.

Mechanical air blowing equipmentHigh efficiency axial fans, statically and dynamically balanced, provide the airflow.

The fans, one for each cell, are directly coupled to self-ventilated and totally enclosed electric motors, which are fitted on hot dip galvanized steel supports.

A protection mesh is placed in front of the fan, to avoid risks.

Additionally, these towers can incorporate: fan control thermostat, speed variators, low noise level fans, maintenance platforms and ladder, water distribution system by channels made in FRP, etc.

All sections that form these towers have four eyebolts each. In the towers CTFP with bedframe, the lower section is equipped with wire ropes, which are fixed to tower bedframe and a timber frame on top. Both wire ropes and timber frames should be removed after installation.

When using cranes to move towers, the above-mentioned eyebolts and wire ropes should be used.

As its maximum width is 2.20 m transport is possible in conventional type trucks without any difficulty.

The installation of the CTFA type (one section), is reduced to the anchoring of the tower and connection of motor and piping.

In the case of the CTFP type (two sections), they first need to be fitted one over the other, and then bolted together and finally the installation is reduced to the anchoring of the tower and connection of motor and piping.

For indoor installation of cooling towers, an air-outlet duct will be fitted, connected to the exterior. In this case, consult SPX Cooling Technologies Ibérica, S.L.
